Parking space offer for truckers on the open-air grounds of the Karlsruhe Exhibition Centre meets with great response

After NUFAM in September 2025, the time had come. Since then, truck drivers have been able to book a parking space on the Peter Gross Bau site at the Karlsruhe Exhibition Centre at any time when there are no events taking place.

The offer has been well received: more than 230 truck drivers had already taken advantage of the new offer by mid-December, with an average of five trucks staying overnight per night. Equipped with sanitary facilities such as toilets and showers, Wi-Fi, lighting and continuous video surveillance, the site offers ideal conditions for a safe rest period.

Bosch and Messe Karlsruhe officials satisfied

Entry and exit are possible at any time thanks to automated number plate recognition. ‘The positive response clearly shows how practical and useful an existing area can be, and we are very pleased that we can contribute to this with our booking platform,’ says Dr Jan-Philipp Weers, Director of Bosch Road Services at Bosch Service Solutions GmbH.

With this new offering, Messe Karlsruhe is helping to ease the tense parking situation for trucks along the A5 motorway. ‘The need is there – and we are delighted to be able to provide support in this area,’ says Britta Wirtz, Managing Director of Messe Karlsruhe. ‘Especially during the Christmas season, it is very important to us to bring a little joy to the drivers, who are often far away from home. A dedicated, cross-departmental team from our staff therefore had the idea of packing small gift bags and placing them in front of the truckers' vehicles. A small gesture that has been met with great gratitude.’

The Peter Gross Bau site will remain open to trucks over the holidays, offering truck drivers a safe and comfortable place to stay overnight, especially at a time when many parking areas are scarce or closed.
