Fighting death at the end of traffic jams: Hellwach mit 80 presents initiative and prevention song at NUFAM

The Hellwach mit 80 initiative is committed to promoting a speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour and preventing tailgating in traffic jams and the associated consequences. It will also be present at NUFAM.

Last year, 2,770 people died in traffic accidents in Germany. And many of those who survived an accident, witnessed one or even caused one suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder afterwards. The ‘Hellwach mit 80 km/h’ (Wide awake at 80 km/h) initiative has a message for everyone: ‘Watch out!’ The initiators will be represented at NUFAM from 25 to 28 September.

The aim of the initiative is to reduce accidents and fatalities. To achieve this goal, rear-end collisions must be avoided as far as possible – because: ‘More than three times as many drivers now die in collisions than car occupants,’ according to a statement from the initiative.

On its website, the initiative has compiled ten rules designed to prevent accidents and, above all, rear-end collisions. The rules can be found HERE.

Music to spread the message

To spread their message even more effectively, the initiators have written a prevention anthem. It is ‘dedicated especially to the silent victims, but also to the drivers who can cause serious harm with their 40-tonne trucks’.

However, according to the initiators, what the song lacks is the right music or melody. The choice of this is to be left to everyone who wants to vote. On the ‘Hellwach mit 80 km/h’ website, you can listen to the blues, country, country 2, indie, pop rock, R&B, rock and schlager versions.

The winning version will be presented at NUFAM on 28 September from around 2 p.m. in the action hall of the Karlsruhe Exhibition Centre.
